What is the North American Star League?
The North American Star League is the biggest Starcraft II tournament outside of Korea. It features 50 of the world's best players competing for over $100,000 in prizes.
What is Starcraft II?
Starcraft II is an Real-time Strategy game where players attempt to build and control an army to defeat their opponent. It is the sequel to Starcraft by Blizzard Entertainment and is one of the best selling games of all time.
How can I watch?
You can tune in every day at NASL.TV to see matches as they are aired at 6pm PST and 9pm EST. There will also be a rebroadcast of the show at 6pm GMT and 7pm CET every night.
VoDs (Video-on-demand) will also be made available after every rebroadcast so you don't have to worry about missing your favorite games.
Is it free to watch?
The daily broadcast and rebroadcast are entirely free to watch. Users may upgrade their account to gain access to the broadcast in 1080p and all VoD content.
There will also be a free daily VoD hosted by our line-up of Youtube commentators on their respective channels.
Who are these youtube commentators?
Our youtube lineup includes Artosis, HD, Husky and TotalBiscuit. Khaldor will also be providing German language content. They will each get a division and commentate one best-of-three series per week.
Will there be content besides gameplay?
Yes! Tune in half an hour before the scheduled match time to watch our pre-show featuring interviews, tournament news, match overviews and more.
What is the format?
We took 50 top players and divided them into groups of 10. Each player will play every player in his group in a best-of-three match. At the end of the season the top two in each season will qualify to be flown to our live-finals.
The remaining players will be ranked. The top 20 will have a playoffs where 5 of them will be selected to continue on to the live-finals
The bottom 16 players will be relegated from the league and will have to re-qualify if they wish to play next season.
We will then host an open tournament for the general public. The winner will also be flown to attend the live final. The top 8 finishers will be invited into the next season.
Finally, we will have a season qualifier where all players, including those relegated from the previous season are able to qualify for the last 8 spots in the next season.
Will the games be casted from replays?
Games will not be cast from replays. The games will be cast as they are being played. After the cast, the videos will be sent for editing and will be broadcast in the evening.
My computer can’t handle a 1080p stream, will there will lower alternatives?
Yes, we will be be streaming in 1080p, 720p, 480p, 360p and 240p. You will be able to choose the best quality your internet connection can handle.
How can the average person help?
We will have positions open for people to help. We will make announcements periodically asking for people who are willing and able to help!
How will the casters dress?
Casters will be stylishly clothed in blazers and Handsome Nerd apparel.
Will there be contests for autographed gear?
Yes! There will be many opportunities for people to win contests.
Will future seasons be invite only?
No, there will be 16 spots available for new contenders every season.
Are there any plans to add non English commentary on streams or VODS?
Yes, Khaldor will be providing German language VoDs on his channel.
Will there be any race picking restrictions?
We will be locking players to one race for the duration of the season. Players will be allowed to select random as their race.
Do you plan to have small prize-money for wins during divisional play?
Not at the moment.
How much did the poll factor into the selection process?
The poll was a very useful metric for distinguishing between players we were on the fence about. When there were two players who were very close in many respects but had a large disparity in public support, we chose the more popular player.
What happened to the 5 player per team cap?
We have removed the 5 player per team restriction. Teams may have as many players in the league that qualify.
How will you ensure that all matches are relevant to the final results regarding qualification and relegation?
Every match will matter because a single win might be the difference between auto-qualifying to the finals, making the playoffs, being safe for next season or being relegated.
