Jonathan Belke, aka “DarKFoRcE,” is a Zerg player from Germany on the team Alternate. DarKFoRcE has a long history in competitive gaming, having played WoW, Supreme Commander, Age of Empires and Poker before coming into Starcraft II. In Wings of Liberty, DarKFoRcE has had great success in multiple tournaments such as the GO4SC2 and Close Combat cups.
DarKFoRcE is a macro style player, always looking to establish economic advantages. He tends to defend as much as he can until he reaches end game. He is also known for his excellent theory, strong mechanics and brilliant multitasking. He parries any pressure until he can amass a monstrous economy and crush his opponent. Although not a unique Zerg player, DarKFoRcE’s mastery of standard play gives him great success in tournaments that he participates in.
DarKFoRcE’s capitalization in his gamer name is a common source of frustration for tournament admins.
In Season 2, DarKFoRcE was placed into the 2nd Division. He started off the season with a 2-1 win over Team Liquid’s HayprO, but soon after hit a slump.
Though he finished 3-4 in his group, he had very impressive series, especially in Week 7 when he defeated division leader, HuK, with a decisive 2-0 win.
DarKFoRcE qualified for the Playoffs where he again faced Rain. After narrowly losing against the Korean Terran in the group stages, it seemed Rain was too much for DarKFoRcE in the Playoffs as well, and Rain would go on to advance to the winners match.
In the first series of the season, DarKFoRcE lost to CrunCher. After that, his performance picked up, and he took noteworthy wins against MoMaN, iNcontroL, and TT1. Although he lost to July and White-Ra, he did score wins against SjoW and Ensnare. His overall standing was 5th in Division 2, winning 5 of the 9 series.
DarKFoRcE’s run in the NASL was far from over. He made it to the 13th seed Playoff bracket, where he took out SjoW and Naniwa, earning him a place in the Grand Finals. At the Finals, DarKFoRcE defeated aLive in the Ro16, advancing to the next round. In the Ro8, Sen defeated DarKFoRce, and became the third place winner of the NASL.
